Recipe: Chicken Bread

Homemade braided bread stuffed with shredded chicken and peopers in a creamy sauce.



Ingredients: (bread)

4 cups all purpose/plain flour

1 tbsp. instant yeast

2 tbsp. powdered milk 

1 tsp. salt

4 tbsp. oil

1 egg (plus 1 for glazing)

1 tsp. sugar

1/4 tsp baking powder


Ingredients: (filling)

1 kilo shredded chicken tikka

1 medium or 2 small onion chopped finely

1 green pepper sliced

1 tsp. black pepper

1 tsp dried parsley

2 tbsp. flour

2 tbsp. butter

1 cup milk

Instructions:

For the Chicken Filling:

1) Heat butter fry onion till soft.Add the milk, cook till thick, mix in the shredded chicken add chopped green peppers and dried parsley, remove and cool completely.


For the Dough:

1) In a bowl mix together flour, salt, sugar, milk powder, yeast, baking powder, oil and egg, knead to a medium soft dough with slightly warm water, leave to rise for 1 hour.

2) Divide the dough how big you want the loaves. Roll the dough to a rectangular shape, snip the sides with scissors or a knife, put filling in the center and fold each side so they overlap each other (like a braid) the filling will show slightly

3) Brush top with beaten egg, and bake on 200 degree C for 25 minutes or so.

4) Right after taking out of the oven apply butter well on whole bread and sprinkle with dried parsley

5) Let it rest covered with a cloth for 2-3 min to soften the bread completely.

6) Enjoy!
