Recipe: Chicken Gratin Pasta Bake

This Chicken Gratin Pasta Bake is made with chicken, peppers, onions and macaroni, baked with a silky creamy sauce and topped with a crunchy golden parsley, garlic breadcrumb and cheese topping. Very easy, very comforting.


500g cooked chicken cubes

1 tbs butter

1 tbs plain flour

300 ml stock

200 ml milk

100 ml double cream

30g grated cheese

1 tsp black pepper

1 tsp salt

½ tsp or to taste red chilli powder

½ Cup or as required Onion diced

1 medium Pepper diced

Pasta 150g (boiled as per pack’s instructions)

2 slices of white bread

1 tsp dried parsley

1 clove garlic

1 tsp oil


1) In a pan, melt butter and then mix in plain flour and cook for 2 minutes

2) Then gradually mix in the stock to begin making a smooth sauce. After this mix in the milk, cream, salt, pepper, chilli and sriracha sauce (optional)

3) Mix in the precooked pasta, cooked chicken, diced peppers and onions and cheese

4) Place mixture into oven safe bowls and begin preparing Gratin

5)In a blender place 2 slices of bread, garlic, parsley and oil and blend to create fine crumbs. Sprinkle this over the pasta mixture.

6) Place in the oven at 180 degrees for 20-25 minutes until golden on top.

7)Remove from the oven & serve!
